How to find us

Where we are

We are located at 2300 West Huntington Drive in suburban Wilmington, Delaware. This is on the corner of Kirkwood Highway (Route 2) and West Huntington Drive in the Pinecrest development, between the intersections of Milltown Road and St. James Church Road. The largest major intersection due east on Kirkwood Highway is Limestone Road (Route 7).

From downtown Wilmington

Take Route 52 (Pennsylvania Avenue) to N. Union Street. Turn left and follow N. Union Street onto Kirkwood Highway (Route 2). Drive west on Route 2 towards Newark. Pass Elsmere and Price's Corner. Go through the intersection of Limestone Road (Route 7) and Kirkwood Highway. Pass the traffic signal light at St. James Church Road (at the Exxon gas station). Look for the Pinecrest development on the left-hand side, between St. James Church Road and Milltown Road (you will see a 7-11 store in the distance). Look on the left-hand side for a brown wood and brick church building with an onion dome and cross on top. Turn left onto West Huntington Drive and enter the church parking lot. This journey is approximately 6 miles long.

From south of Wilmington (including Dover and southern Delaware)

Take I-95 north to exit 4B (Route 7 north). Take Route 7 north approximately 2 miles to Route 2 (Kirkwood Highway). Turn left onto Kirkwood Highway and go west for approximately 1/2 mile. Pass the traffic signal at St. James Church Road (look for the Exxon gas station). Look for the Pinecrest development on the left-hand side, between St. James Church Road and Milltown Road (look for the 7-11 store in the distance). Look on the left-hand side for a brown wood and brick church building with an onion dome and cross on top. Turn left onto W. Huntington Drive and enter the church parking lot.

From north of Wilmington

Take I-95 south to exit 5B, then Route 141 north (towards Newport). Take Route 141 north to exit 6B (towards Newark). Take Route 2 (Kirkwood Highway) west towards Newark for 3 miles. Go through the major intersection of Limestone Road (Route 7) and Kirkwood Highway (Route 2). Pass the traffic signal light at St. James Church Road (at the Exxon gas station). Look for the Pinecrest development on the left-hand side, between St. James Church Road and Milltown Road (look for the 7-11 store in the distance). Look on the left-hand side for a brown wood and brick church building with an onion dome and cross on top. Turn left onto W. Huntington Drive and enter the church parking lot.

From the University of Delaware and Downtown Newark

Take Route 2 east from the University. Pass the entrance to Delaware Park and go past Milltown Road to the Pinecrest development (which is on the right-hand side, between the intersections of Milltown Road and St. James Church Road, and before the light at Limestone Road/Route 7). Look for a brown brick and wood church with an onion dome and cross on the right-hand side of Kirkwood Highway. Turn right onto W. Huntington Drive and enter the church parking lot.

The Mission of The Orthodox Church in America, the local autocephalous Orthodox Christian Church, is to be faithful in fulfilling the commandment of Christ to “Go into all the world and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…”

St. Michael's is part of the Diocese of Eastern Pennsylvania, which is presided over by The Most Reverend Mark (Maymon), Archbishop of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania. Our mission is bringing the joy of Christ's resurrection to those who have never heard the Good News, and to strengthen and encourage the faithful who reside within Wilmington and the local area.

The Holy Scripture is a collection of books written over multiple centuries by those inspired by God to do so. It is the primary witness to the Orthodox Christian faith, within Holy Tradition and often described as its highest point. It was written by the prophets and apostles in human language, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and collected, edited, and canonized by the Church.

Holiness or sainthood is a gift (charisma) given by God to man, through the Holy Spirit. Man's effort to become a participant in the life of divine holiness is indispensable, but sanctification itself is the work of the Holy Trinity, especially through the sanctifying power of Jesus Christ, who was incarnate, suffered crucifixion, and rose from the dead, in order to lead us to the life of holiness, through the communion with the Holy Spirit.
